Farmer Friday News!

Our class is going to be learning about Farming in Aotearoa New Zealand this term.  On Friday,  we need to bring a farming costume to school. We will wear our school uniform to school as it is not a mufti day.  We will get changed our costumes later in the day (so we need practice changing ourselves before then). There will be a parade in the hall in the afternoon. 

This is a really cool way for us to get a good idea of the theme for this term.  We will have photos on the blog so you can see us there!

So:  pack gumboots, check shirts, and farmer hats for Friday and look out for photos on the blog!

Please don't worry about spending money making costumes- we will make something in class as well!

 

 

School Assembly

On Friday at 1pm in the hall, there is a school assembly to showcase our theme for the term 'Walking Backwards to our Future'. 

It is New Zealand History Dress Up Day: a chance for all of us to dress up in period costume, to wear kiwiana clothes or dress in something that reflects NZ’s rich and diverse history.

 

Last week we went to different classes to learn about different parts New Zealand's history.  What a fun way to start the term!

 

 

 

Happy Mothers Day!

Today we made gifts for our mothers.

First, we made a flower card, by tracing around our hand, cutting it out and gluing onto some paper where we drew some lovely flowers.

Next, we got some special Mothers Day paper and drew pictures of our beautiful mums.

Finally, we glued our pictures into a special card.

We had lots of fun and really enjoyed making pretty things!

Our Library Visit

We are learning to tell the difference between fiction and non-fiction books.

Fiction books are made up stories.  We chose fiction books from the Picture Book section of the library.
Non-fiction books are true and have lots of information in them. 
We sorted books into fiction and non-fiction.

Today some of us were learning to form letters and words correctly in our books. We did such a great job and are really proud of ourselves. 

We are working on

• the correct size
• the correct shape
• in the right place

We are also learning to make our best effort.  That means we try our hardest.

So much to learn!  Look at Arlo doing finger spaces!
